In a desolate, ancient landscape under a cloudy sky, Job, an elderly man with reddish sores on his bare chest, sits on an ash heap, facing three older, bearded men who are seated respectfully on the ground. A younger man, Elihu, stands slightly apart, looking modest and thoughtful, his hands clasped, as if preparing to speak.
